Q

hepkitten asked:

how much of what you create is influenced by art, and how much by information? or rather, how much of the art that you consume, music, imagery, culture aesthetics, etc, makes it's way into your work, as inspiration or actual content or what have you, versus the informative content, news, facts, practices, facets of cultures, etc?

A

Okay, an insight into the true horror of being a writer.  Ready?

Art IS information.

If you’re me.

I make no distinction between reading a political breakdown of the Greek economic crisis and looking at thirty-nine magazine & book covers and eight online speculative architecture installations and a Moodytwin capsule collection and a Siege or Ellen Rogers conceptual shoot or a Mary Anne Hobbs Saturday night radio show on Resonance FM or a Brandon Graham comic or add your own here.

Because all of it, ALL of it, reflects the world around it.  And that’s what I’m interested in.  So it’s all information.  And it’s all in the work, somewhere or other.
