Warner Brothers used to buy the option for tv every couple of years, and then sit there not knowing what to do with it. That must’ve happened four times.
I’ll tell you a thing: one day, one of a relatively successful tv writer/producer team emailed me to say “WB offered us PLANETARY but we didn’t want to be known as the people who fucked PLANETARY up on tv. Sorry.” I respected their directness and honesty, and like them and their work… and that cracks me up whenever I think of it.
